PHRYGIA, Aezanis. Commodus. AD 177-192. Æ 22mm (27mm, 11.03 g). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / Goat standing left, head turned right, suckling the infant Zeus. SNG von Aulock -; SNG Copenhagen -; BMC Phrygia p. 40, 121. VF, black patina with some earthen encrustation.

Although little is known of the city of Aezanis, it must have claimed some connection with Amaltheia, the she-goat (font face=symbol>aiz which nursed the infant Zeus hidden from his father Saturn.
